Nook E-ink e-reader instructions for Library E-books
Use these instructions for
Nook e-ink e-readers such as the original Nook, Nook SimpleTouch or Nook
GlowLight.
You must use a desktop or laptop computer to download titles to your Nook e-ink e-reader.
1. Download Adobe Digital Editions from http://www.adobe.com/products/digital-editions/download.html. This is a free program.
2. On your desktop or laptop computer, go to capelibrary.org. Click on “click here” under the Downloadables information box on the bottom right side of the page.
3. You will now in on a new page called “Missouri Libraries 2 Go.” Click “Sign In” on the top right side of the page. Start typing in “Cape Girardeau” and choose “Cape Girardeau Public Library” from the drop-down menu. Type in your library card number. If you leave the checkbox next to “Remember my login information on this device” checked, you will not have to do this step in the future.
4. Click the outline of the person. Click “settings.” You may now change your default lending period to 14 or 21 days instead of 7 and change the appearance of the site. Click “save” at the bottom of the page when you are finished making changes.
5. You are now ready to download library e-books. You may only download books in the Adobe ePub ebook format or Open ePub eBook format to your Nook e-ink e-reader. E-ink Nook devices are not capable of playing audiobooks. To search, you may simply click the magnifying glass and type in the title or author you wish to find. If you do not have a particular title or author in mind, you may browse by clicking the three lines on the top left side of the page or by choosing advanced search.
6. Once you find a title you wish to download, click the book cover and then click the “Borrow” button on that page (if you see “Place a hold” instead of borrow, the book is checked out. If you click “place a hold,” you will receive an email when that title becomes available.).
7. You will now see that book in your bookshelf. Click “Download” and choose Adobe ePUB eBook or Open ePub eBook Click “Confirm & Download.” Choose “Open With Adobe Digital Editions.”
8. The ebook you downloaded is now on your Adobe Digital Editions bookshelf. To transfer it to your Nook e-reader, start by connecting your Nook to your computer using the USB cable you use to charge it, but with the larger USB end plugged into your computer’s USB port. You should now see your Nook in Adobe Digital Editions under “Devices.”
9. In Adobe Digital Editions, drag the title you downloaded to your device. You should see a green plus sign when you reach your device. A window will pop up while the title is transferring.
10. Click on your device and confirm that the title transferred.
11. Unplug your Nook from your computer. You are now ready to read!
